What is Invisalign?
Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic, removable aligners to straighten teeth. There is no need for brackets, archwires or elastic bands like those used with traditional metal braces. Instead, Invisalign aligners look like thin sports mouthguards and slot over your teeth so discreetly no one will know you’re having treatment. You can take them out to eat, brush and floss or when playing sport or attending important business meetings.
How does Invisalign work?
Every set of Invisalign aligners is custom-made to your teeth. You will be advised to wear a set of aligners for two weeks, after which you’ll need to swap them for the next set in the series. Every set of aligners is shaped slightly differently according to your bespoke treatment plan. These aligners will gradually guide your teeth into their ideal position.
At The Brace, we welcome new technology that improves the service we can provide to our patients. So, we were incredibly excited when dental monitoring became available. This revolutionary new software enables us to monitor your treatment every three days without needing you to come into the clinic for a checkup.
Dental monitoring works as an app on your smart phone. Compatible with all smart phones, all you need to do is take a selfie of your teeth and smile every few days throughout your Invisalign treatment and upload it to the app. Using the software, we can assess those photos against your treatment plan here in the clinic and ensure your teeth are straightening as they should be.
This allows for greater communication between you and our team and, with less clinic visits required, it means orthodontic treatment now fits even more easily into your lifestyle.
In addition to the aesthetic and comfort advantages Invisalign offers, the system also has many clinical benefits, including:
